Petersham Nurseries' Christmas market
Wednesday, December 8th, 2010
‘Peaceful’ and ‘Christmas shopping’ are not usually terms that go hand in hand, but after an evening spent at Petersham Nurseries you’ll be surprised at how pleasurable buying presents can actually be. Situated down a winding rural lane in Richmond, Surrey, Pertersham’s cosy greenhouses and ambient restaurant make the ideal setting for a traditional Candlelit Christmas Market and snugly fills the gap between the busy high street and solitary internet shopping experience.
Handmade wreaths by in-house florist and stylist Ronny de Koning and beautifully old-fashioned tree decorations will ensure your home will look as festive as it could possibly be, while other handcrafted homewares and unusual trinkets make wonderful gift ideas. Italian chef Tito Bergamaschi will also be selling a selection of unique cheeses, perfect for the festive period.
With spicy mulled wine, tasty mince pies and traditional carols from the acclaimed Ripieno Choir, it will be nigh on impossible to leave the market without feeling excited for Christmas.
A long-standing fan of Petersham, Jasper will be on hand this evening to sign copies of his book Country, a perfect gift for photography fans and admirers of the British countryside. The Christmas market will also take place next Wednesday 15th December.
