OLYMPICS 2012 - SPORTSWEAR & FASHION COLLIDE AT THE FASHION MUSEUM, BATH
Friday, July 27th, 2012
The Fashion Museum has struck gold for the year of the London Olympics, with an insightful exhibition examining the connection between sportswear and fashion. Delving into its rich archives, the Bath-based museum is showcasing examples of historic sportswear, alongside more modern fashion and sportswear pieces.
Archive highlights include original Tobogganing wool suits from the 1880’s, tennis dresses from the 1920’s and historic swimsuits and costumes. More contemporary examples include a catsuit worn by Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams in 2010, a jersey hoody dress from Jasper Conran’s SS07 collection and a catsuit from sportswear-inspired fashion designer Pam Hogg.
The exhibition - curated by Fashion Museum manager Rosemary Harden and consultant curator Iain R Webb - runs until the end of 2012 and is a great way to celebrate the London Olympics (if you’re more into sports-fashion than sports!)
