MUSINGS ON MUSES...

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Jasper’s Autumn Winter 2011 collection had distinct Sixties leanings, and so it’s no surprise that two of the most iconic, not to mention beautiful, women of that era – Francoise Hardy and Jane Birkin – were used as muses for the show’s hair and make-up.

“What we like about them is the hair was never done, it was always easy; it always looked very comfortable and louche”, hair stylist Peter Gray explained of the two women.

Translating this look onto the models for Jasper’s catwalk show, Peter created a “lazy wave…it’s something very easy to achieve at home and very sexy and feminine.” Watch Peter in action and learn how to create the look for yourself.

Meanwhile, make-up artist Val Garland said that her inspiration came “from the idea of a fresh faced young girl.”

Taking that ‘60s staple the classic black eyeliner, Val created a “coquettish, cat-like, feline eye, with lashings of mascara.” Skin was kept natural and matte with “just a tint of a blush and very soft, flesh-tinted rose on the lips.”
