LFW: JASPER CONRAN SS12 WOMENSWEAR SHOW

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Jasper Conran’s SS12 womenswear catwalk show at London Fashion Week featured a fresh, sporty, pared down aesthetic with crisp, neutral tones of white, grey and black interjected with brilliant bold reds and striking pinks.

Over 500 people watched the Jasper Conran show at Somerset House on Saturday 17th September, but if you missed it don’t worry, you can watch it online here.

Jasper’s signature style was unmistakeable with clean cuts, strong silhouettes and precision elegance that can only be achieved through a rigid attention to detail and quality.

Barely there make-up created a fresh-faced, dewy look on the models. Make-up artist Val Garland achieved this by mixing a base foundation with a facial serum, grooming brows, leaving eyes bare and applying highlighter across the contours of the face. Lips were the only feature she focused on, painting in bright red or pink to match the colours of the collection. Come back tomorrow to see our ‘Val Garland Interview’ for more tips on how she achieved the look and what goes into her essentials make-up kit.

Hair was sleek, straight and ironed, using a small amount of mousse rather than an abundance of styling products, to create a softer look. Hair stylist Peter Gray said he used the model’s hair and strips of fabric to create hair bands at the front of the hair to create a simple, pared down style.
