LFW COUNTDOWN: SHOW TUNES

It’s just over three weeks before London Fashion Week AW11 kicks off and Jasper’s latest collection hits the catwalk.

Needless to say, things are hotting up in the studio as the womenswear team busy themselves with the creation of next season’s looks. But, believe it or not, there’s more to a fashion show than the clothes and a great number of things need to be organised and decided upon in the coming weeks before the models are ready to be sent down the runway.

Music is an integral part of any fashion show, and Jasper and the team have started work on compiling a soundtrack to accompany the new collection. It’s important that the sound of the show reflects the mood of the collection so finding the right music is a carefully considered process and one that takes time; there’s pre-show music that needs to be found, a track to play the models down the catwalk as well as a number for the finale of the show.

To help with this mammoth task, Jasper works with Miles - a musician and producer who has helped with the soundtrack for a good number of seasons now. Miles is briefed on the feel of the collection and goes away to research various options before giving them to Jasper to listen to. The chosen tracks are then edited down and reworked until the final, precisely timed, piece of music is ready. Phew!
