Jasper’s Designs In New V&A ‘Club To Catwalk’ Exhibition
Wednesday, July 10th, 2013
The V&A’s summer fashion exhibition opens today, exploring the creative explosion of London fashion in the 1980’s, and features two designs by Jasper.
The exhibition traces the impact of underground club culture on fashion worldwide, showcasing the work of a host of British designers. This includes a black Jasper Conran dress on loan from Lady Sarah Chatto and a mens black leather Jasper Conran jacket from Iain R Webb.
Alongside the work of designers, the exhibition features magazines of the time The Face, i-D and Blitz, whose launches helped herald the arrival of a new ‘style’ magazine, combining street style immediacy with the high-end production values of Vogue and Tatler.
The exhibition, which runs from 10 July 2013 – 16 February 2014, has been curated by V&A Head of Fashion Claire Wilcox, alongside consultant Wendy Dagworthy.
