Few and far

“The most important thing now is creativity and making people smile”, says Jasper's aunt Priscilla Carluccio over a cup of tea in her shop Few and Far.

Situated on Brompton Road in South Kensington, Priscilla’s shop stands as a welcome contrast to the stiff and austere facades of the local glossy boutiques. Warm, colourful and inviting, Few and Far is the kind of place you could easily while away an entire morning - especially with the smiling staff on hand to offer a selection of tempting hot drinks.

Imagine being taken on a guided world tour. With clothes from Morocco to Japan (via Italy and everywhere else inbetween) sat next to traditional English foodstuffs and jewellery with Columbian roots, Few and Far certainly has a lot to keep the eye entertained. “It’s a very personal collection”, explains Priscilla. “The things I sell are pieces I would have myself. That’s my benchmark. Hopefully customers like it too!”

Products are sourced from suppliers Priscilla knows and trusts and from her own constant hunt for interesting pieces. Her most recent trip - a visit to the south of France – uncovered a striking 1930s coffee pot (Priscilla’s love of le café is evident in the number of cups and saucers on display) as well as other beautiful homewares, both old and new.

With Christmas just around the corner (in retail terms at least) Few and Far are putting the finishing touches to their festive interior. Classic children’s toys, geranium jam and magpie-friendly tree decorations are a mere taste of what’s on offer. Inkeeping with this year’s theme – The Curiosities of Christmas – Priscilla is hosting a number of workshops in store. Check the new website for details and for a look at Few and Far’s eclectic mix of products.
