Easter Eggs

Forget chocolate, Easter is the perfect time to collect real eggs.
Earlier this week, Jasper brought us all a colourful selection from his growing Dorset menagerie including his Indian Runner ducks - Thelma, Louise and Audrey, his Buff Orpington duck - Margaret (named after Dame Margaret Rutherford) and his Rhode Island Red chickens - Ida (after his Granny), Diny, Ruby, Peggy, Artimisa and Anna.
These gorgeous eggs are almost too beautiful to break but everyone seems to have managed it - competitive cooking stories have been flooding in. The duck eggs are very creamy scrambled and have enormous yolks when boiled with soldiers and the chicken eggs are perfect for golden 'eggy bread'.
The winner? Two duck eggs scrambled with cream and served on a slice of toast spread with patum peperium or gentleman’s relish (salty anchovy butter). Delicious!
