DAY 19 - A MODERN DAY DICKENSIAN CHRISTMAS

Monday, December 19th, 2011

“...The poulterers' shops were still half open, and the fruiterers' were radiant in their glory. There were great, round, pot-bellied baskets of chestnuts, shaped like the waistcoats of jolly old gentlemen, lolling at the doors, and tumbling out into the street in their apoplectic opulence...” ‘A Christmas Carol’ Charles Dickens.

We feel Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without a good dose of Charles Dickens. And we love this modern take on a Dickensian street scene, created from cardboard by renowned set designer Simon Costin for the Museum of London. It will be displayed until February.
