A Christmas Carol
Monday, December 20th, 2010
There is no denying that carol concerts are an integral part of the Christmas experience and the grander the location, the better in our books. Here’s our (non-exhaustive) pick of the best concerts around the country…
If you’re in London it’s hard to beat singing carols in the grand surrounds of St Paul’s Cathedral or Westminster Abbey. But if you haven’t got tickets to the former, and you don’t fancy queuing for the latter, then the daily sing-along around the giant Norwegian pine in Trafalgar Square is a pretty good compromise.
The Cabot Choir performs at Bristol Cathedral this evening with featured soloists and (crucially) opportunities for audience participation. Further up North, Durham Cathedral hosts the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Wednesday 22nd while Ely Cathedral in Cambridge has a wealth of festive concerts throughout the rest of December.
